Eye Sedso vs Silence is Golden – Aniblog Tournament 2012

Here we go again pal. Eye Sedso is back and ready to make moves at the big time. First I’ve got to get rid of this totalitarian dictator who is clearly against freedom of speech. I will NOT be Silent! I will be HEARD!

I was looking for a video of a cool explosion, but this was the best I could find:

First, a bit about Eye Sedso.

Yes, I just linked to myself (did you actually click that?)

Yes, I have a bad-ass header with a title that I made in MS Paint.

Yes, I still use MS Paint.

Yes, I have awesomely unique post ideas and I’m not afraid to voice my opinions about literally anything you can think of.

How many people are ambitious enough to have a page that highlights the favorite character of every single anime they’ve ever watched? Eye do!

How many people have taken up an oath to watch every single show that features their favorite seiyu just because they messed up their name once? Eye do!

Who likes puns more than anyone? Eye do!

The fact is, I’m completely unpredictable, and that’s why I’m awesome. I could write the worst post you’ve ever read, and follow it up with something unfathomably terrific the next day.

But enough about Eye Sedso, which has over 830 posts in under 4 years despite being a one-man ISSS (confused about what an ISSS is? Check the FAQ on the bottom of my lengthy about page). Let’s check on the challenger.

Silence is Golden

You know who else thinks Silence is Golden? Librarians. But not just any librarians, OLD LADY LIBRARIANS.

Chidori Sousuke.

I must say, that’s not the name I thought of when I found out that you were an old librarian who lives with 13 cats (and hasn’t realized that 4 have died long ago under her bed).

If Silence is Golden then your site should have a room reserved at Fort Knox. You only managed 2 posts in April. I guess the Library was busy what with everyone trying to borrow The Hunger Games and 50 Shades of Porn (although an shusher like yourself probably banned it in your library). Even I’ve had busier months that that. Your post rate is lower than the old librarian glasses on your pointed nose, but enough about Chidori Sousuke the person. Anyone can write a blog, and even if you don’t have stunning good looks like me, it doesn’t mean that your content is bad. Here is an except  from one of Chidori’s posts, chosen completely at random (well, selectively random):

Man, the timing of the tourney is not really favorable for me since April is also the start of my internship and I’m even assigned in a very toxic hospital that left me with only 2 hours of sleep daily and an unlimited amount of paper works…I am oh so drained every week and it will last for 2mos O__O (Oh God…help).

Do you hear that? That’s the sound of the world’s smallest violin not playing, because you enjoy silence.

But I do honestly feel for Chidori. I know what it’s like having to balance a lot of tasks at once. I mean, can you imagine if you had to somehow balance:

  • Work
  • Lesson Plans
  • School
  • Ceramics
  • Over 30 hours of Student Observation
  • Gallery Openings
  • 80 Page Unit Plans (never thought I could ever write an 80 page paper in your FACE WORLD, and yeah, plural)
  • Curricula
  • Friends and Social Appearances
  • Sleep (I still hate sleep)

And STILL have time to not only watch anime but write posts?

Oh wait a second, I did all of that for the past four months. Sleep? As long as I get a solid 5 hours in every few days I’m fine. I mean, I wake up every morning at 6 and do my stuff just like the next guys. We’re all puttin in work, no sense cryin over spilled milk, a bird in the hand is worth all of your eggs in one basket.

What in God’s name am I….

Anyway, moving on. Let’s see some anime content from Silence is Golden:

The year is 2046. Haruyuki Arita is a young boy who finds himself on the lowest social rungs of his school. Ashamed of his miserable life, Haruyuki can only cope by indulging in virtual games. But that all changes when Kuroyukihime, the most popular girl in school, introduces him to a mysterious program called Brain Burst and a virtual reality called the Accel World.

The writing admittidly is pretty good, no doubt because Chidori has been cooped up in that Library for so long yelling at “young whippersnappers” for playing that “devil music” too loud. But even with solid writing, Silence is Golden is still your typical, generic episodic blog, and if follows the typical, generic episodic blog format of:

Post Title

Summary of Episode

Personal Opinion

3-4 paragraphs seen it about 30 times before. Probably a few screenshots littered here and there. It’s better than some generic episodic styles but in the end, it is what it is.

I demand more! Innovation! Change! NEW AND EXCITING BLOGS AND ISSSes!

Oh was I too loud? I really need to stop writing in ALL CAPS I guess. (I will never miss a chance to link to some DOOM).

Chidori, perhaps at one point, you were a Shusher, but it’s apparent that now you’ve clearly taken to path of a Shusher, and shushers don’t have a place in today’s aniblogosphere. Frankly I’m not quite sure how or why an 81 year old old librarian who lives with 13 cats and is racist is writing a blog about anime. You’d be better suited in writing an old manuscript  on some parchment about yarn or cats or something.

Let’s give Silence is Golden some silen- you know what I’m not even going to bother it’s too corny. But anyway, Chidori has all but given up anyway.

Vote for Eye Sedso!

(link will be more effective when the polls actually open. I had to post now because I have work till like….10 PM…..oh, and vote for Canne too!)

In all seriousness, there’s a lot of good blogs in the Anime Tournament, and that’s really what it’s all about. However, none of these blogs are better than my ISSS. Still, I love the aniblog tourney because it bolsters up my blogroll with high quality blogs. Cheers to those guys!
